About the Cleveland BoyChoir

Rehearsing at Indians game.In Greater Cleveland, boys and young men make choices every day that affect their future. Attending rehearsal two afternoons each week is a choice that helps shape the men that the members of the Cleveland BoyChoir will become. Under those red plaid vests are the future of our city.

In addition to the discipline and music education that come with the regular rehearsals, new worlds are opened when the Cleveland BoyChoir performs. The boys sing where many will never go: television performances, mayoral inaugurations, White House, singing the National Anthem at Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians games, and many locations throughout the area.

The Cleveland BoyChoir has been "Raising Voices, Changing Lives" for more than sixteen years. Founded by Dr. William and Carol Foley in 1991, the organization works with Cleveland boys from third grade through high school to open doors to the world through music.

They have the opportunity to gain confidence and poise by performing for audiences as diverse as the Greater Cleveland area itself. The group provides camaraderie, discipline and hope for the future, where members can be a part of the group by showing their desire and dedication. No membership fee is required.

Parents of the members thank the organization for providing guidance to their boys, building self-confidence and helping the boys look to their futures. Boys who have been in the choir talk about returning to show off their careers down the road, some in music and others in a range of fields.

Music is a way to open the world to the boys and, in return, listening to the boys opens up a world for the audience. The group performs in Latin, German, Hebrew and many other languages. Sharing music in our community is a wonderful way to connect with the people of Greater Cleveland.

We are grateful for the support of the community to keep this independent, non-profit organization available to these youth. Through the music, the Cleveland BoyChoir is truly, "Raising Voices, Changing Lives."

Friends.In Their Own Words

"I like being in the Cleveland BoyChoir because I can be happy and get to sing. I like singing in the concerts and meeting people."
